January Meeting Announcement

The December meeting of the North Olympic Brewers Guild was attended by a small but spirited group of members. There were lots of beers to try and food aplenty. Because of the small turnout the election of officers was postponed until the January meeting.
The January meeting of th NOBG will be held at the home of Jim and Hope Williams. The Williams address is 232 Eberle Lane in Sequim. The meeting will be at 6:00 pm on Saturday the 16th of January.

Minutes from November meeting\ December Meeting Announcement

The November meeting of the NOBG was hosted by Chris and Nicole. A few of our regulars were unable to attend, but we still shared some homebrew and tasted the 120 Minute IPA from Dogfish Head Brewery on the East coast (thanks Mic)
We also took care of some business items.
We discussed officer positions, and decided on the following positions with associated duties. At the December meeting we will have our election.

PRESIDENT:
1. Preside over all meetings of the NOBG.
2. Acts as liaison with the Washington Homebrewers Association (WAHA).
3. Reports all actions of executive officers to the general membership.
4. Calls special meetings as may be required to conduct the business of the NOBG.

VICE PRESIDENT:
1. Assists the President in all matters of business of the NOBG.
2. Assumes the President’s duties and responsibilities of the President’s absence.
3. Administrates all programs and clinics.

SECRETARY:
1. Notify local media of all meetings of the NOBG.
2. Maintain the NOBG website, http://www.northolympicbrewers.com/
3. Maintain roster of membership in the NOBG.
4. Notify all members of all meetings.

Secondly, we discussed hosting of our meeting and expectations. We have a core group of members who can host, and decided potluck would be great for food.
And lastly, the other three items on our agenda were deferred to December.
We will include instructions on all emails from the club that will give the recipient a chance to have their name removed from our club listing. Nicole volunteered to work on a small poster promoting our club for placement around town.
Next meeting will be December 19, 2009 at 6pm at Keith’s house, address is: 231 Madrona Terrace in Sequim.

NOBG on KONP A Must Listen To Event

NOBG founding members Mic Sager and Brian Kuh will be appearing on the Todd Ortloff show on our local radio station KONP. The show will be airing on Wednesday November 11th at 12:30 pm. KONP is located at 1450 on the am dial. Please listen if you can and invite anyone you know who may be interested in starting out in homebrewing to tune in also. This is a great opportunity to spread the word about our club and homebrewing in general. Support our clubs future by tuning in and telling all your friends.

November Meeting of NOBG

The November meeting of the NOBG will be held this month at the home of Chris and Nicole Clark. The meeting will be held on Saturday November 14th at 6:00 pm. Chris and Nichole live at 114 Emerald Drive in Sunland in Sequim. (see link below) They will be providing snacks but everyone is invited and encouraged to bring snacks and\or homebrew. This will be a hugely important meeting for the future of the NOBG so please try to attend if at all possible.
Agenda of meeting as follows:
  1. Election of officers; President, VP and secretary
  2. Rotating hosts and expectation
  3. Survey of members
  4. Equipment exchange(please bring a list of any equipment you would like to sell exchange or even give away)
  5. All grain roundtable with Mic and Rich

October Meeting Announcement

The October meeting for the North Olympic Brewers Guild will be held this coming Saturday, October 17th from 2 to 4pm. Once again, NOBG member Rich Lamkin has offered to host the meeting. Rich will have an Old Town Brown and Amber Ale on tap.

September Meeting Announcement

July Meeting Announcement

The July meeting for the North Olympic Brewer’s Guild will be held on Sunday, July 19th at 2pm in Sequim. NOBG member Keith Barnett will once again host our group at his home at 231 Madrona Terrace in Sequim.

NOBG member Mic Sager will give a presentation about the history and features of the India Pale Ale, so any true beer enthusiast and hophead won’t want to miss this meeting. Be sure to bring a sample of your own brew, or your favorite IPA to share.

New Meeting Location for June!

The June meeting of the North Olympic Brewers Guild will be held at 2pm on Saturday, June 20th, at Water Street Brewing in Port Townsend. This will be our first Port Townsend meeting, and a great opportunity to discover the great beers of Water Street Brewing. They'll have their own creations on tap, and will also feature a full menu of appetizers and afternoon edibles.

Be sure to bring a friend, and a sample of your favorite homebrew, and also check out the Brewer's Exchange to connect with other club members who are carpooling to the meeting.

May Meeting Announcement

The May meeting of the North Olympic Brewers Guild will be held on Sunday May 17th, at 2pm, at Keith Barnett's house. Please note; this will be a Sunday meeting rather than the usual Saturday. Keith lives at 231 Madrona Terrace in Sequim.

Please try to attend this important meeting as we will be discussing the direction the club will be taking in the future. We would like to get input from as many members as possible on the future of our club in areas such as structure, format of meetings, future events etc. If you are not able to make this meeting please email NOBG and let us know in what direction you would like to see the club moving. Please try to get an email sent before the meeting on May 17th so that your input can be heard.

Hope to see you all there and keep brewing. Of course as always we will be tasting each others homebrew and having a good time.

April Meeting Announcement


The April meeting of the North Olympic Brewer's Guild will be held Saturday, April 18th at 2pm at Peak's Brewpub in Port Angeles. Once again, Ed, Wanda, Jeff and Co. will host our group, and showcase some of their own beers as well as select favorites from throughout the Northwest.

The March NOBG meeting was well-attended, and our host Keith described his recent pursuits to become a certified beer taster. Even more exciting was the addition of new members, including Keith (the other one), Nancy, Sam and Karl (who broke the record for longest distance traveled...all the way from Clallam Bay!). Everyone brought beer to share, which had us all feeling good by the time our meeting was over. Thanks again to Keith (the first one) for hosting!

March Meeting Announcement

The March meeting of the North Olympic Brewer's Guild will be held Sunday, March 22nd at 2pm at the home of Keith Barnett in Sequim. Keith is one of our charter members and lives at 231 Madrona Terrace.

Please note the change from our usual Saturday meeting, but don't miss this opportunity to connect with other homebrewers from throughout the the North Olympic Peninsula. Keith will also feature a tutorial on beer tasting, and welcomes everyone to bring a sample of their favorite brew to share.

For The Love of Beer

February Meeting Announcement

The February meeting for the North Olympic Brewers Guild has been scheduled for 2:00pm on Saturday, February 21st at Peak's Brewpub in Port Angeles. Once again, Ed, Wanda and staff have graciously offered to host our group of brewers and drunkards.

Be sure to stick around for the Peak's Brewpub Annual Chili Cook-off. Bring a crockpot of your best chili, and have it ready by 5pm. Judging will begin at 6pm, and cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. $5 entry fee, $1 to eat the contestant's chili after the judging.

First Meeting of 2009














The first North Olympic Brewers meeting of 2009 was a success, with more new members joining in the beer exchange. NOBG member Mic Sager hosted the event at his home in Sequim, and showcased his "Pre-Prohibition Lager"...on tap.

There were a few new faces, including the first official delegation from Port Townsend. Extra thanks go to Stan, Brian and Ray for making the drive over! We hope to continue to attract brewers from all over the Peninsula, and discussed rotating our meeting between Port Angeles, Sequim and Port Townsend.

The North Olympic Brewers Guild would like to welcome all homebrewers, brewmasters and beer enthusiasts to join us at one of our upcoming meetings (every 3rd Saturday of the month). Details for February will be going out soon, so check back here for more information.
